Scholarship Opportunities

There are many free ways to search for scholarships.  This is a list of a few.  Never pay for someone to do searches for you.

Sept 19 9-12 Siemens Competition in Math, Science, & Technology Grades 9-12.  Submit individual or team research project. Scholarships are awarded to all students who are selected to attend and compete in the regional and national events
Oct. 2 12 Hispanic Heritage Foundation: Youth Awards Several scholarships for Hispanic students pursuing various careers.  3.0 GPA. Winners are required to attend a regional ceremony.
Oct. 2 12 Wendy's High School Heisman High school athlete, leader, with 3.0 GPA
Oct. 6 12 AES Engineering Scholarship Engineering courses not required.  Awards based on character.
Oct. 15 12 Colgate-Palmolive’s Haz-La-U program
Of Hispanic/Latino descent (at least one parent), willing to travel at own cost to the regional awards ceremony. Academic excellence, community service, leadership.
Oct. 25 12 Horatio Alger Association National & State Scholarships Specifically assists high school students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their young lives. Demonstrate financial need, be involved in co-curricular and community service activities, display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity.for seniors
Oct. 31 12 Coca-Cola Scholars

Coca-Cola Scholars,Well-rounded, bright students who not only excel academically, but are also actively involved in their school. 150 scholarships awarded annually. for seniors
Oct. 31 Age 13- undergraduate Voice of Democracy Grades 9-12 Essay Contest
Nov. 1 12 OSU McKnight Scholarship GPA 3.75, ACT 27, Proven leadership, Commitment to service
Nov. 15 12 Hagan Scholarship GPA 3.5, ACT 23, complete FAFSA with EFC less that $6,500.
Nov. 16 12 Intel Science Search This is a contest involving independent science research projects.  It honors exceptional high school seniors for their scientific research and their potential as future leaders in the scientific community.
Nov. 30 12 AED Superstore Fall Scholarship Submit a video or essay about sudden cardiac arrest.
Nov. 30 12 Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Need not be related to a member of the Elks. Judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need.
Nov. 30 12 Jack Kent Cook Foundation College Scholarship Rewards excellence by supporting high-achieving high school seniors with financial need who seek to attend the nation's best four-year colleges and universities. GPA 3.5 or above. SAT combined Critical Reading and Math score of 1200+ and/or ACT Composite score of 26+
Dec. 1 7-12 FRA Americanism Essay Contest FRA sponsors an annual essay  contest to promote the spirit of Americanism and patriotism among our country's youth. requires a 350 word essay.
 Dec. 1 12 Walmart Associate Scholarship  Qualified Walmart Associates and their high school senior dependents.  Must be employed at Walmart for 6 months. Based on financial need and community involvement.
 Dec. 15  12 AXA Achievement Scholarship and Community Award   Students who demonstrate ambition, drive, and determination to set and reach goals, respect for self, family and community, ability to succeed in college. Special consideration is given to achievements that empower society to mitigate risk through education and/or action in areas such as financial, environmental, health, safety and/or emergency preparedness.
Dec. 15 12 James W. McLamore, Burger King High school senior with 2.5 GPA or above.
Dec. 16 9-12 Take Care of Texas Video Contest Create a 30 second video that shows positive ways to Take Care of Texas.
Dec. 18 12 NFIB young Entrepreneur Awards Must own and operate his/her own business.
Dec. 31 12 ACT Student Champion Award Must have ACT score of 22 and GPA of 3.0
Dec.-Jan. Depending on participating college 12 RAISE  Scholarship for students that plan to teach in Texas.  Must attend a participating college.
Jan. 4 12  GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship
Demonstrates leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship.
Jan. 19 12 Texas Engineering Foundation Students enrolling in an accredited engineering program in Texas, 3.0 GPA, 29 Math ACT See Mrs. Fair or Mrs. Andrews
Jan. 31 12 Texas Student Housing   Must be attending college in Austin, College Station, or Denton

Feb. 9 12 ACET Students that have been part of compensatory programs.  
Mar 1 12 Texas Farm Bureau Texas Farm Bureau members.
Mar. 1 12 Catholic Life Insurance Must be insured by Catholic Life Insurance.  May be used for college or technical school.
