🎨 Celebrating Our Student Artists! 🎨

We are incredibly proud of our talented Hereford ISD students, Emma Arredondo and Rose Murillo, who represented us in the Student Art Contest at Texas Rural Education Association celebrating the theme:
“Where I Come From… Rural Texas.”

While they did not place in the top three, their work truly stood out and reflects the creativity, pride, and heart of our students. 💛

To showcase their talent, their artwork has been selected to:
✨ Be featured on the upcoming contest website
✨ Be displayed at the Texas Rural Education Association Annual Conference in June 2026

This is an incredible accomplishment, and we are so proud of the way they represented Hereford ISD!

Hereford High School Cosmetology and Barbering competed this weekend in Corpus Christi. They worked hard and competed with heart! They did so so well and we are incredibly proud of them!

We are so proud of their dedication and the way they showed up to compete at a high level!

Happy Monday morning! Some Mondays start better than others, and today we were met with significant water damage in one of our history classrooms. Chairs and floors were soaked, ceiling tiles and light fixtures were filled with water, and student work was unfortunately damaged. Students have been temporarily relocated while we address the issue and try to find out why this happened!

Our maintenance team is working to identify and repair the problem, and our custodial staff has already done an incredible job getting the mess cleaned up. We appreciate their quick response and everyone’s patience.

HHS Law Enforcement students attended “Badges and Beyond: Careers That Make a Difference” at the Amarillo College First Responders Academy. They learned about careers as first responders and postsecondary education opportunities.

🎓 Hereford High School Ring Ceremony 🎓

We’re continuing our commitment to transparency by showing the current conditions at our high school.

Last week, a student desk went through the floor. What was once a small area covered by tiles has turned into a larger issue. Due to asbestos in the tile and adhesive, those materials can no longer be replaced. Our maintenance team responded quickly and safely patched the hole, but this highlights the reality of our aging facilities.

In the second photo, you can see one of our upstairs classrooms where you can see into the classroom below and hear any lessons going on in that classroom.

Additionally, Coach Guerrero’s AC unit has gone out, leaving his classroom extremely hot over the past few days. Because of the age of the unit and limited availability of parts, repairs are expected to take several weeks. In the meantime, his classes have been relocated to the library, but this does impact valuable instructional time.

We remain committed to keeping you informed and continuing to address these challenges head on.

Huge congratulations to our Current Events and Social Studies teams! 🏆📚

Both teams dominated the competition, sweeping the top 5 individual places and earning some of the highest team scores in the entire state of Texas!

Even more exciting, every student and both teams have qualified for the UIL Academic Regional Competition in Lubbock on April 22 and 23.

Way to represent Herd excellence. Let’s keep it going!
