Our students earned Sweepstakes at the UIL Concert & Sight Reading Evaluation, the first time in school history that our program has received this honor at any level!
This achievement is even more impressive considering the challenges they faced this year, including schedule changes and limited rehearsal time. Through it all, these students stayed committed and delivered a performance they can be incredibly proud of.
We are so proud of their hard work and dedication, and we appreciate the continued support of our fine arts programs.

This morning, a sink frequently used by students was not draining properly and had a strong odor. After investigation, it was determined that the existing plumbing configuration was not allowing for proper drainage.
This is an example of aging infrastructure that requires updates, and the issue is currently being corrected to ensure proper function moving forward. A big shoutout to our district plumbers for handling the situation quickly this morning!

Thank you!
HHS

Recently, a section of wall in the teacher’s lounge had to be removed after a pipe burst and water was discovered running behind the wall. When the wall was opened, crews found older pipes that are in need of replacement. Because this pipe was located in an interior wall, water had to be shut off to students toward the end of the school day while repairs were addressed. The leak also caused damage to the surrounding area.
Another issue occurred recently when water began coming through the floor of a downstairs office, which was traced back to collapsing pipes underneath the building.
In addition to these incidents, ongoing plumbing challenges continue to surface. About two weeks ago before school started, Mrs. Alonzo arrived at 7:00 a.m. to find toilets overflowing with water and sewage. Situations like this have become increasingly common as the plumbing system continues to age.
Just today, water was coming back up through toilets in the girls’ English bathroom when they were flushed, and in another part of the building, water was backing up into sinks.
Our district plumbers have done a tremendous job responding quickly and maintaining the system as best as possible. While they continue to address issues as they arise, many of the problems being encountered are related to aging infrastructure beneath the building.
As we continue sharing information with our community, we want to provide a transparent look at some of the facility challenges our staff and students are experiencing.

A couple of weeks ago, our SkillsUSA Law Enforcement students competed at the District 3 Competition and represented us with professionalism, dedication, and hard work. We are so proud of the way they showed up and competed.
A huge thank you to the judges for their time and feedback, and to the Amarillo College First Responders Academy for hosting such a great event. It was a day full of leadership, learning, and growth! 🚔✨

In this pathway, students gain real world experience in hair design, coloring, cutting techniques, skincare, nail care, and professional salon practices. They learn customer service, sanitation, and business fundamentals that prepare them for success in the beauty industry.
Through dedication and practical training, students work toward earning their cosmetology license, giving them a valuable credential and career ready skills right out of high school. Style, skill, and success all in one program! 💅💫

There will be a HHS Senior Parent meeting on Monday, March 23rd at 5:30 p.m. located at the Hilltop Event Center.

Our CTE Law Enforcement program gives students a strong foundation in criminal justice, public safety, and the legal system. Through hands on learning and real world scenarios, students explore topics such as investigative procedures, crime scene processing, ethics, and community relations.
This program prepares students for careers in law enforcement, corrections, forensic science, and other public service fields. We are proud to provide opportunities that develop leadership, integrity, and a commitment to serving others. 👮♂️✨
